Richard Devine - Asect-Dsect (2003)

ARTIST`````
Richard Devine

ALBUM`````Asect-Dsect
GENRE`````Electronic, IDM, Glitch, Breakcore
YEAR````````2003

A metallic shitstorm of samples, cracks, bangs, rips and green slimy goo.

Review
Richard Devine’s aspirations to the profession of cinematic sound designer have become increasingly apparent with each of his recent offerings, and in Asect:Dsect, he has, even without the aid of a corresponding film, actually managed to enter into the realms of planetary creation. The man is a specialist in throwing sounds around an area, and he uses this technique as much as is technically possible within the confines of a stereo setup, to the effect of placing the listener in an artificial space – one that upon entering, becomes eerily reminiscent of movies such as Ridley Scott’s “Alien” series.

Psycho Baba - On The Roof of Kedar Lodge (2000)

ARTIST`````Psycho Baba
ALBUM`````On The Roof of Kedar Lodge
GENRE`````Experimental Tribal Psychedelic Japan
YEAR````````2000

Excellent Japanese experimental non-stop fluids.

The project and the album
Psycho-Baba is one of a growing contingent of bands that has been dropping hefty supplies of dynamite on traditional connotations of Japanese music. The group's strength is their innovative mixture of Indian sitars, tablas, drums, and effects. While most Japanese bands are a direct reaction to American culture, Psycho-Baba ventures outside the norm, borrowing largely from the hypnotic trends of Europe and the traditional sounds of Southwest Asia. TabLoveDubLa TabLoveDubLa TabLoveDubLa, their first album, released in 1998 on Japan Overseas, is one drawn out 54-minute track. This monumental piece was noteworthy enough to catch the attention of the paragons of Japanese youth experimentalism, the Boredoms, who they opened for on a 1998 world tour. Originally led by sitar master Mhayow, tablist Ahkio, and drummer Suttgun, the threesome made quite an impression on the Boredoms. For the 2001 release On the Roof of Kedar Lodge, Yoshimi P-We and Atr joined the band, augmenting an already impressive rhythm section.

Making experimental music is easy. Seek out disorganized noise in a relatively new form and you're all set. Making good experimental music, however, is next to impossible. That requires an intuitive sense of breakneck originality that's engaging enough to make an audience take notice. Atr and Yoshimi P-We, dueling drummers for the avant-something troupe the Boredoms, should appreciate this theory as much as anyone. They've slapped together oodles of unlistenable noise albums, and they've also composed sublime, earnest, and ethereal melodies. Psycho-Baba, one of the projects they do to kill time while away from the Boredoms, shows just how wonderful it can be when it all comes together. Led by sitar player Mhayow, the modern experimental tendencies of the Boredoms have been put on the back burner in favor of South Asian harmonies. The ethnic ambiance melds seamlessly with subtle, hypnotic electronic inducements, along with elaborate percussion arrangements that keep it all moving. It's pleasant from start to finish, with moments of near perfection. A great album even for those who might shy away from the Boredoms.

EL NOU MON - Fuck Your Bad Vibes, Bro (2010)

ARTIST`````El Nou Mon
ALBUM`````Fuck Your Bad Vibes, Bro
GENRE`````Experimental, Ambient, Techno, Electronica
YEAR````````2010
Music: Anthony Arroyo, Cover Art: Michael Aghajanian

Some guidance:
From the hills you can see the whole mess of it: the spare parts from cities past and future strewn unceremoniously into the basin to rot in the sun. Tony avenues rub with tired industrial areas–ghettos clustered around smokestacks. They are tired from the labor of dreaming that one could make an "honest living" doing "honest work." Foxes dream of well-intentioned cocaine pontifications. Some are going to hell. Some are always running; from Metro line to Metro line, off the bus and into traffic, looking for God knows what. All they know is that it's here in California. Here in this bathtub made from mountains and ocean. From here the ocean isn't the ocean. From here, the ocean is a wall to stop the onrush of bonebleached stucco and one-story porn superstores, the misconceived malls and the baked, glittering pavement of the freeways. If not for the ocean the city would go on forever.
I remember standing on the hills watching it burn. A patch of flames here. A Korean grocery store. An outsized smudgepot. A Bob's Big Boy. A whole bunch of people saying: Why the fuck not?

Los Angeles.

BLEEDING PANDA COMPILATION

WHAT?
A pack of mostly filthy blues/blue-rock songs (from delta classic to contemporary). To widen it up I added a few noise (post-kraut-whatnot) tracks (Adult., Aluk Todolo...), a gorgeous psychobilly track from Laika and the Cosmonauts and even an electronica 4x4 beat song from Whomadewho. A rather filthy and sometimes difficult sound in general. I just hope it sounds coherent at all hahaha. Anyways, some great artists here that you should explore more.

Note: Please if someone can identify track 17 I would be eternally grateful!

Boredoms - 77 Boadrum (2007)

BOILING POINT
ARTIST`````BOREDOMS
ALBUM`````
77 BOADRUM
GENRE`````EXPERIMENTAL, NOISE-ROCK

YEAR````````2007

FROM WIKI:

77 Boadrum was a concert held on July 7, 2007 (7/7/07) at 7:07 PM consisting of 77 drummers. The concert was organized by Boredoms. The title of the concert was a portmanteau of "Boredoms", "boa", "drum", and "77". It was held at the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park in Brooklyn, New York. Two followup concerts, entitled 88 Boadrum, were held on August 8, 2008.

THE CONCERT FROM NY ENTERTAINMENT:
For such a monstrous event, the ending of the Boredoms' 77BoaDrum show in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge Saturday evening was surprisingly peaceful. Led by the Japanese noise-rock pioneers, BoaDrum presented 77 drummers at 77 drum kits spread out across a broad green lawn. In addition to the Boredoms at the center of the spiral, drummers from dozens of indie-rock and jazz bands participated; even Andrew WK was there, sitting behind a gleaming gold drum kit and playing as if he wanted you to enjoy the show as much as he himself was, which seemed to be quite a lot. V.A MONSTRUOSO INSTRUMENTALE! VOL. 01 (2009)

MONSTRUOSO INSTRUMENTALE!
GENRE`````INSTRUMENTAL
YEAR````````2008
BLEEDING PANDA COMPILATION! COVER DESIGN BY PANDA STUFFER.

WHAT?
This is a 16 track long collection of some of my favorite blasting instrumental songs. Generally, as the cover says, this collection has no meaning, has no intellectual value whatsoever and is pretty much a bunch of cult songs mixed with stupid cover versions (like Britney Spears Toxic cover) and interesting experiments along with kitsch trash Moog shitties that are fused together only by the fact that they all have balls and a clear tough attitude.
It spans decades - from 70's detective funk to new unexplainable experimental productions, and spans all continents and cultural influences.

All critiques and comments are very welcome. Also, I am preparing Vol. 02 so all your anarchical recommendations are very welcome.

And a Happy New Thingy to all of you:)

TRACKLIST:
01 Barry de Vorzon - Theme from The Warriors
02 Dennis Coffey - Scorpio (Alpha Omega)
