``````60 RAINDOGS
This is my essential Tom Waits selection spanning his ENTIRE career. 60 songs that I find to be his best ones.
I've been listening to all of his albums I could get my hands on for full 10 years and still I am eager to hear what tricks he has under his filthy hat.
He is one of a few musicians I've listened enough to "know them by heart". If you are starting with Waits (or you already found him), you should check this out because there are no "best of" compilations that are so comprehensive such as this one.
I definetly recommend finding and downloading his entire discography. It does not matter if you like his early beautiful, gentle bluesish-jazzish failed love stories or his latter theatrical screams and shouts about drunken russian soldiers and melting chocolate jesuses - he is one of the most original, self-preserving and independent artists in modern music. And above all, he never had a big media support because he never needed it - the critics and his huge fan-base follow him everywhere he goes.
I intentionaly didnt include some all-time-songs that the critics praised because I wanted to make room for some of his experimentations that are also a solid part of his character as much as his "biggest songs". After all, you can always
easily find some of his many official Best of's.
Hi a brilliant selection but every time I try to get the first part I get NOTICE: No servers are currently available with the requested data on them. Please retry your request in a moment. and so I can't download this part and you please see if they will make this available on another server or can I have another link to download it.
P/S Thank again for this selection
It works for me but as I see on my downloads page, it is massively being downloaded so that may cause some problems I guess... I mirrored this post on few forums and its getting a lot of attention and I think that mediafire server is a bit busy with this compilation hahaha:) I'll try and mirror it to rapidshare as soon as I can:)
Hey, thanks for uploading all these wonderful songs! You definitely know your Tom Waits songs very well. I am new to Tom Waits' music (I've started seriously listening to him a few days ago) and I am absolutely in love with his song "Smuggler's Waltz". I have also become fond of "Piano Has Been Drinking". Do you have other similar songs from Tom Waits to recommend me? I'd like something melancholic, something haunting.. I'm sure he has a lot more songs of this type that I do not know about! Please do send your recommendations to me - my email is . I'd really love to hear from you! Thank you!
The world benefits from this lovingly compiled collection and Waits is one of the most original and talented dreamers out there. Also, this blog is my favourite place on the net at this moment and reflects a beautifully broad spectum of wonder to fill my hard drive! Which is good, as I have run out of room for vinyl in my house! (Doesnt stop me acquiring more though....) Big love and keep up the great work!
Thanks oiche. Support is very rare here as people just stop by to get the links so I appreciate the kind words. Stop by any time as I will be more active with uploads.
