MY VIEW:
Illegally recorded drunk and insane verbal and physical fights of two crazy old roomates? Now this you can call - "seriously successful underground project". A must have rarity.

ALBUM DESCRIPTION (YOU MUST READ THIS TO UNDERSTAND):
Resting uncomfortably in the phantom zone between comedy and tragedy, Shut Up, Little Man! documents the drunken, two-fisted battles between Raymond & Peter, a pair of aging war-veteran roommates living in a rundown San Francisco tenement house. The disc was recorded by the duo's neighbors, who -- after knocking on the door to complain about the constant late-night melees -- were told by Ray, "I'm perfectly willing to kill anyone that thinks they're tough. I was a killer before you were born, and I'll be a killer after you're dead." Yikes. Rattling off a constant litany of epithets, including perennial favorites like "fuckin' piece of shit," "cocksucker," and "queer," Raymond & Peter bicker like an old married couple, threatening to kill each other over the slightest offense; their laughter is even more chilling than their rants, with only physical assaults to break up their circular, never-ending debates. When Sartre wrote No Exit, he could only imagine the true depths of the locked-room existential nightmares Shut Up, Little Man! captures -- it's an experience like no other.

The first Shut Up, Little Man! compact disc was released in early 1993. A number of other volumes were issued later. The recordings quickly gained a cult following, and were adapted into comic books, zines, a theatrical production and the independent film Shut Yer Dirty Little Mouth.

The recordings found fame far beyond San Francisco. Lee reports that "I went to see (New York City-based) John Zorn, one of my favorite jazz composers, performing with his experimental game-playing ensemble, Cobra. The keyboard player had sampled Shut Up Little Man, and thus, throughout the evening -- amidst the saxophone squawks and grinding guitar breaks -- there would be sampled little blasts of: 'Shut your fuckin' mouth!' or 'I want to kill!'"

Raymond Huffman died in 1992 , he was repeatedly kicked by Tony while laying in bed, and soon died from the trauma. Peter died in 1996 of liver problems due to years of excessive drinking. Tony was placed into a mental institution and his current whereabouts are unknown.

The band DEVO had a side project, "The Wipeouters" and on their only album there is a track titled "Shut Up, Little Man" using many samples of Ray and Peter.
